Client: Cohiba Atmosphere Club
Address: 21/F, Hing Wai Building, 36 Queen's Road Central, Hong Kong
- 1. Background
Hong Kong is a city with a profound cigar culture, and the existence of membership-based cigar clubs is the best proof of this.
Cohiba Atmosphere Club is located on the 21st floor of the Hing Wai Building at 36 Queen's Road Central, Hong Kong. The club opened in 2007, covering an area of 1,200 square feet, and also features a 700-square-foot rooftop garden for outdoor smoking. Due to the concentration of office buildings, restaurants, and bars in the Central district, it is a popular spot for office workers to relax after work. Some restaurants and bars also provide smoking areas, which can easily lead to air pollution.
The Cohiba Atmosphere Club offers a variety of entertainment facilities and Wi-Fi service, but its main features are the humidors for Cuban cigars, perfect bar service, and 110 humidified temperature-controlled cabinets.
The club is named Cohiba Gold to pay tribute to the world's number one cigar brand, Cohiba. In fact, the brands sold are not only Cohiba, but also many other Cuban cigar brands.

Figure 1. Cohiba Atmosphere Club
The Cohiba Atmosphere Club cigar bar is luxuriously furnished and has a fully ventilated smoking room. However, the smell of cigars can easily spread to other floors, affecting other tenants.
The nicotine absorbed from smoking cigars is higher than that from cigarettes, and the secondhand smoke from cigars is as harmful to others' health as ordinary secondhand smoke. The secondhand smoke from the smell of cigars is no less harmful to non-smokers than active smokers. This situation should not be ignored.
Data shows that smoking one cigar is equivalent to smoking a pack of cigarettes in terms of nicotine content, and it contains at least 60 carcinogens. Therefore, cigar lovers are 8 to 10 times more likely to develop oral and throat cancer than regular smokers.
To completely eliminate the pollution caused by cigar odors, reduce the impact on surrounding tenants, and protect the image of the cigar bar, Cohiba Atmosphere Club urgently needed to find a good air purification solution. They found our company and decided to adopt oxygen decomposition air purification technology to solve the cigar odor problem.
- 2. Plan
After understanding the needs of the cigar bar and conducting a detailed on-site inspection, our company recommended installing two portable air purifiers inside the bar and in the lobby elevator. This would effectively absorb and remove the cigar odor from the bar, further improving the air quality within the cigar bar and preventing the elevator from spreading the cigar odor to other floors' tenants.
Figures 2 and 3 show the actual placement and installation of the NCCO air treatment system.

- 3. Effectiveness
After the NCCO air treatment system was put into use for a period of time, the cigar bar provided feedback that the pungent smell in the air had improved, and the overall environment was much more comfortable than before. The smell of cigars in the elevator had almost disappeared, and complaints about secondhand smoke from tenants on other floors had also significantly decreased.
Cohiba Atmosphere Club is very satisfied with the air treatment effect brought by the NCCO oxygen decomposition system.
